Your journey to becoming a police officer with SA Police begins with our two-year Constable Development Program.
During your first six months, you’ll be based at our police academy in Taperoo, Adelaide. Here, you’ll combine academic studies in law, policy and procedure with practical and physical training. You'll then be sworn in as a Probationary Constable and complete operational placements at a metropolitan District or regional Local Service Area, Traffic Services Branch and in custodial care environments.
Nine months after commencing your training, you'll graduate from the academy and be posted as a probationary constable to one of our four metropolitan Districts or to one of our other locations across the state. During this probationary period, you’ll build up your skills and experience in the field, after which we’ll consider you for the rank of constable.
