Police Security Officer Careers

Apply for a career as a police security officer with SA Police, and you could play a critical role in the security of our state.

Police security officers contribute to South Australia’s counter terrorism strategies and community safety. In this role, your primary function is to maintain the security of government facilities, public officials and the community through:

  • electronic surveillance by monitoring alarms and CCTV systems
  • mobile security patrols of government facilities
  • static guard services at government buildings
  • security of people, places and property
  • SAPOL custodial duties

Future applicants will commit to a rigorous application process. SAPOL’s online eligibility assessment form will assist in this process, helping future applicants determine their suitability for a SAPOL Police Security Officer position.

Successful applicants will be invited into preliminary testing and training in South Australian Law, Procedure, Communications, and Operational Safety.

Once you finish at the academy, you’ll begin your duties as a police security officer and become a vital part of the network that continues to keep our community safe.

Online eligibility assessment application

We invite future applicants to complete and submit an online eligibility assessment form to understand the standards and commitments required in a SAPOL career.

Once completed and submitted, SAPOL will consider all submissions as an expression of interest and invite only those successful applicants into the preliminary testing stage.

Interstate applicants, and those living in regional areas, will have specific testing arrangements inclusive of a two-day event at SAPOL headquarters.
