New Protective Security Officers come on board

Eight new Protective Security Officers (PSO) have joined the ranks of SA Police after graduating from the Police Academy at a graduation ceremony held on Friday, 8 November 2019.

The Protective Security Officer Qualification Program is a comprehensive nine-week training program at the Police Academy. Training includes PSO role and responsibilities, powers and authorities, firearms training, operational safety training, driver training, counter-terrorism, active armed offender training, law, work health and safety, diversity and inclusion, fire warden, and security equipment.

PSOs provide a range of security services to the public sector that includes provision of protective security services to designated South Australian Government critical infrastructure and high risk assets, key government buildings within the Adelaide CBD and government assets across the metropolitan area. The Police Security Services Branch also provides a whole-of-government alarm monitoring service and CCTV across the Adelaide CBD and major transport corridors.
