Port Pirie police have carried out a targeted day of action.
On Friday 14 August Port Pirie Police hosted a coordinated day of action aimed at enhancing community safety, disrupting criminal activity, improving road safety outcomes and increasing visible policing across the Port Pirie region
The operation involved the deployment of a significant number of SAPOL resources including patrols from Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Whyalla and Mid North outstations, Port Pirie Criminal Investigation Branch, Yorke Mid North Region Crime Prevention Section, STAR Operations, Dog Operations Unit, Mounted Operations Unit and Licensing Enforcement Branch which was further strengthened through the participation of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
The operation incorporated the execution of three Controlled Substance Act warrants, a Firearms Prohibition Order search, a large-scale driver testing station, licensing enforcement activities, declared public precinct general drug detection duties and a number of highly visible community engagement activities.
As a result, a 43-year-old woman from Solomontown was arrested and charged with possess a prohibited weapon, possess a controlled drug and possess a precursor without permit.
A 51-year-old man from Risdon Park was arrested and charged with possess a prohibited drug.
A 51- year-old man from Napperby was arrested and charged with contravene a firearm prohibited order, contravene intervention order and possess ammunition without a licence.
A 42-year-old woman from Solomontown was arrested with possess a prohibited weapon, possess a controlled drug and possess precursor without permit.
During the operation police will allege a number of weapons were seized from a tattoo parlour including 9 swords, 4 daggers and a throwing axe.
A road safety operation was carried out resulting in two drivers detected driving positive to methamphetamine, two drivers reported and issued immediate loss of licence notices, one car was defected and an expiation notice issued.
