Two drivers caught drink driving after crash

Two men have been caught drink driving after a car crashed into a tree at Brooklyn Park this morning.

Just after 1.30am on Monday 8 April, witnesses reported a Volkswagen sedan had crashed into a tree on Henley Beach Road.

Patrols arrived and spoke to the driver, a 27-year-old man from Netley. He was subsequently breath tested and provided a positive result of 0.197 - nearly four times over the legal limit.

He was taken to hospital for the treatment of minor injuries sustained during the crash. He was reported for drink driving and traffic offences and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

While patrols were dealing with the crash a Subaru station wagon stopped at the scene and the driver identified himself as a friend of the injured man.  He was also breath tested and provide a positive result of 0.097.

He was reported for drink driving, his vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he was issued a six-month instant loss of licence.
