Stolen car torched at Oaklands Park

21 Apr 2024 6:24am

Police are investigating after a stolen car was set alight at Oaklands Park early this morning.

Just before 2.30am on Sunday 21 April, police and MFS were called to the wetlands car park off of Oaklands Road after reports of a car fire.

Patrols arrived and found a Mitsubishi SUV engulfed in flames. It appeared that it had collided with a tree within the wetlands.

Check on the Mitsubishi showed that it had been reported stolen between 16th and 18th April from Ascot Park.

The blaze was extinguished but unfortunately the car was completely destroyed.

Anyone with information on the fire or who may have seen any suspicious activity in the wetlands area is asked to contact police.
