Police have located a hoon driver in Colonel Light Gardens overnight.

Just after 4am police received reports of a black Ford sedan returning to an area where it had allegedly done burnouts the night before at Colonel Light Gardens.

With the assistance of the traffic management centre, police were able to locate the vehicle on Seacombe Road, in company with another vehicle. Police had a conversation with both drivers.

The driver of the Ford sedan, a 18-year-old Semaphore Park man was reported for misuse of motor vehicle and breaching his P conditions. His vehicle was impounded.

The driver of the second vehicle, a grey Holden sedan, a 24-year-old man from Strathalbyn was spoken to by police and checks revealed he was wanted for seven petrol drive offs in the past fortnight. He was reported for seven counts of making off without payment.

Both drivers will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
