Drink drivers detected across the southern suburbs

Police have reported six drivers for drink driving offences across Adelaide's southern suburbs over the past week, with several returning blood alcohol readings more than three times the legal limit.

Just after midnight on Sunday 12 July, police stopped a Volkswagen station wagon on Honeypot Road, Hackham West for the purpose of a breath test.

It will be alleged the driver a 54-year-old woman from Hackham returned a positive result of 0.159.

She was reported for driving with excess blood alcohol, issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence notice and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Her vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

About 6pm on Sunday 12 July, police were called to the intersection of Belair Road and Cross Road, Kingswood, after reports a Toyota utility had collided with a traffic light.

The driver, a 78-year-old Unley man, was breath tested where it will be alleged he returned a positive result of 0.181.

He was reported for driving without due care, driving with excess blood alcohol and driving under the influence.

He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence notice, and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Just before 9.30pm on Tuesday 14 July, police observed a Toyota station wagon failing to keep within marked lanes on Griffiths Drive, Seaford.

The driver, a 59-year-old Seaford Heights man, allegedly returned a positive roadside alcotest before refusing to comply with a direction to submit to a breath analysis.

He was reported for failing to drive within the marked lane of a multi-lane road, driving under the influence and failing to submit to a breath analysis.

He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence notice, and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

He was further reported for property damage after allegedly striking the bonnet of a police vehicle, causing a dent.

At 10.55pm on Tuesday 14 July, police stopped a Kia station wagon on Bowering Hill Road, Port Willunga, after allegedly observing the vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign.

The driver, a 50-year-old woman from New South Wales, returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.118.

She was reported for driving with excess blood alcohol and issued with a six-month instant loss of licence notice.

She will face court at a later date.

At 5.30pm on Thursday 16 July, police stopped a Toyota station wagon on Furness Avenue, Edwardstown.

The driver, a 63-year-old Blackwood man, returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.095.

He was reported for driving with excess blood alcohol and will face court at a later date.

His vehicle was impounded for 28 days, and he was issued with a six-month instant loss of licence notice.

At 3am on Saturday 18 July, police stopped a Toyota station wagon on Brighton Road, Somerton Park.

The driver, a 43-year-old Trott Park man, allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.171.

He was reported for driving with excess blood alcohol and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

His vehicle was impounded for 28 days, and he was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence notice.
