Charges over shopping centre robbery

A man has been charged following an aggravated robbery at Noarlunga Centre over the weekend.

About 2.40pm Saturday 20 April police were called to the Beach Road shopping centre after reports a man had entered a sports store, selected clothing and attempted to leave the store without paying.

When the man was confronted by staff he allegedly threatened them with a knife, dropped the clothing, then fled the scene on a bicycle. Thankfully staff were not physically injured. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the man at the time.

About 10.20pm Sunday 21 April following an investigation, Detectives from Southern District CIB attended a Kurralta Park address and arrested a 20-year-old Christie Downs man. He has been charged with aggravated robbery and breach of bail and refused bail. He will appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court today (Monday). CO2400014545

During the search police also arrested a 37-year-old Kurralta Park man in relation to unrelated road traffic offences, he was bailed to appear at the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 24 May.
