Police have arrested a youth after stealing a car from woman at Port Augusta West last night.

About 9pm on Sunday 2 August, a woman was sitting in her car parked on Daw Street when a man pulled her out of the vehicle, stole the keys and drove off.

Thankfully she was not physically injured.

A short time later, the silver Toyota Camry sedan was involved in a petrol drive off at a service station on the Augusta Highway.

Patrols were able to successfully spike the car’s tyres as it crossed the bridge and headed towards Whyalla on the Eyre Highway however it continued on driving.

Patrols pursued the stolen car but it was lost sight of.

It was seen again on several occasions driving through the township before police located the car abandoned in Domeyer Court.

As a result of investigations, police arrested and charged a 13-year-old boy from Davenport with numerous offences including aggravated robbery, illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving at a speed dangerous, and breach of bail. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Youth Court today.
