Police visit underground church for special ceremony

On Sunday 2 August, Sergeant David Finlayson of Coober Pedy Police attended the Serbian Orthodox Church of St Prophet Elijah, Coober Pedy to celebrate the Parish Slava.

Local police are invited to the event every year to assist in building strong relationships with community groups.

The service was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Siluan, Archbishop of Australia & New Zealand.

Attendees travelled from across Australia to Coober Pedy for the celebration.

Sergeant Finlayson says, "Coober Pedy Police take pride in honouring the diversity of the local communities strong & active migrant community. We were honoured to take part in the celebration of this significant religious event."
