An alleged drink driver was reported after crashing his car in the city overnight.

Police were alerted to a single vehicle collision in Frome Street, near Angas Street, just before 1.30am on Saturday 30 March.

A vehicle had hit a tree and airbags had been deployed.  Fortunately, there were no injuries and the vehicle narrowly missed properties.

The driver, a 27-year-old Athelstone man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.188 - more than three times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving and aggravated driving without due care and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence.  He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

His vehicle was significantly damaged in the crash and was towed from the scene.
