28 Apr 2024 3:02pm

Police have reported a man after he was caught doing burnouts at Hanson yesterday.

Just before 5pm on Saturday 27 April, Police were driving along Gum Creek Road when they saw a white Ford station wagon doing burn outs at the intersection of Blieschke Road.

When police stopped the driver, they noticed that the car did not have any registration plates attached.

Police spoke with the P plate driver and submitted him to a roadside drug test. He allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Brinkworth, was reported for misuse of a motor vehicle, driving contrary to a defect, driving with no registration plates and breaching his provisional licence conditions. He was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and may face further drug driving charges pending results of a forensic analysis.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

The passenger and registered owner of the vehicle, a 17-year-old boy from Penwortham, was issued with an expiation notice for allowing the driver to drive an unregistered, unroadworthy vehicle which had no registration plates totalling $1304.

A further defect was issued for a number of serious faults with the vehicle.
