A drug driver was caught speeding at Freeling this afternoon.
About 4.15pm Thursday 25 April Nuriootpa patrols were conducting speed detection duties on the Thiele Highway when they clocked a Holden Calais travelling at 152km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Police stopped the car and spoke to the driver, a 36-year-old Freeling man, and submitted him to a road side drug test. The driver allegedly returned a positive reading to driving with methamphetamine in his system.
He was issued a fine of $1939, lost his licence on the spot for six months and his sample will be sent to FSSA for further analysis.
