The Scrap Metal Dealers Bill 2025 (SA) received assent by the Governor of South Australia on 4 December 2025.
The commencement of the Act is expected in 2028.
At the commencement of 2026, SAPOL will be connecting with stakeholders seeking their views, experience and input in certain aspects to assist with the framework required to draft the regulations. While there are currently no changes that industry or customers need to be aware of, the Act can be accessed through the South Australian Legislation website.
