Youths arrested over stolen car Coober Pedy

About 11.15pm on Saturday 11 July, Police received reports of a silver 4WD driving erratically throughout the township of Coober Pedy.

Around the same time, patrols discovered that a silver Toyota 4WD had been stolen from a business on Paxton Road.

Police saw the stolen vehicle exit the township and travel north on the Stuart Highway. The driver and passenger quickly abandoned the car near Flat Hill Road and ran off.

Both were arrested after a short foot chase.

Two Coober Pedy youths aged 12 and 14 were charged with illegal us of a motor vehicle, acts to endanger life and breach of bail. The 12-year-old was bailed to appear in the Coober Pedy Youth Court on 30 September.

The 14-year-old was refused bail and remanded in custody after being further charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass relating to a separate break-in on Paxton Road. CO2600181614
