A driver has lost his licence after being detected travelling at more than 100km/h through a roadworks zone on Yorke Highway at Pine Point.
Just before 2.30pm on Monday 6 July, police were conducting patrols through a construction works zone on Yorke Highway, where a 60km/h speed limit and no-overtaking restrictions were in place.
Police observed a Haval station wagon approach from behind at speed before overtaking the police vehicle and continuing through the staffed roadworks area, travelling at 118km/h in the 60km/h zone.
The car was stopped and the driver, a 46-year-old Smithfield Plains man, was spoken to.
He was issued an immediate six-month loss of licence notice for excessive speed and a fine of more than $2,000.
