Traffic and drug charges for motorbike rider

A man will appear in court today after being caught speeding through Prospect and neighbouring suburbs.

About 2.30pm on Wednesday 30 April, police spotted a motorcycle speed in Prospect and attempted to stop it however it failed to stop.

PolAir were overhead and tracked the bike as it travelled about 100km/h in a 60km/h zone through Prospect and then headed north on Main North Road.

The bike was followed by PolAir as it turned into Edgeworth Street and the rider stopped and walked heading east.

The rider, a 46-year-old man from Elizabeth, was swiftly arrested without incident.  He was charged with dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit, riding whilst being disqualified and contravene a direction to stop.

The man was searched and he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, he was further charged with possessing a controlled drug.

The motorbike he was riding was towed from the scene and impounded.

The man did not apply for bail and he will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court today (Thursday 1 May).
