Stolen ute spotted on North-South Motorway at Bolivar

06 May 2025 6:41am

A driver was arrested on the North-South Motorway after an eagle-eyed police officer realised his plates didn’t match his vehicle.

A dog operations patrol spotted the white Toyota Hilux ute travelling south on the North-South Motorway at Bolivar about 10.45pm on Monday 5 May.  The registration plate came out to a 2022 Toyota Hilux, however, the vehicle looked to be much older, possibly pre-2010.

Two dog operations patrols then safely pulled the vehicle over.

Further investigations and a closer examination of the vehicle revealed that it was indeed stolen.  The 2006 written-off Toyota Hilux ute had been stolen from a paddock at Kersbrook last month.

The driver, a 29-year-old Stirling man, was arrested and charged with illegal use and driving with unassigned plates.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 24 June.

The vehicle was towed from the scene for forensic examination.
