Traffic operation focuses on regional roads

During the deployment, officers detecting 15 alleged drug drivers, and issued 121 expiations, 83 defect notices and 12 immediate loss of licences.

A notable result saw eight alleged drug drivers detected in Ceduna in a single day. Officers reported strong community engagement, with the motorcycle presence generating significant public interest throughout the region.

Among the incidents, a 27-year-old man from Andamooka was arrested after police attempted to stop him for a speeding offence. He was detected travelling at 153km/h in a 110km/h speed zone on the Eyre Highway at Moseley about 12.30pm on Thursday 6 August.

The driver refused to stop and was pursued by police briefly before being terminated for safety reasons. The driver was subsequently arrested in Port Augusta and charged with driving dangerously to escape police pursuit, driving at a dangerous speed and other traffic offences. He was bailed to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 7 September.

A Smoky Bay driver was fined $2,061 for towing an oyster barge on an unregistered trailer while a crew member remained onboard the vessel.
