P-plater caught speeding at Strathalbyn

About 5pm on Sunday 6 September, Highway Patrol officers detected a Holden Commodore station wagon travelling at 134km/h in an 80km/h zone on Callington Road, Strathalbyn.

Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 20-year-old Callington man. Checks revealed he was the holder of a provisional licence.

He was reported for aggravated excessive speed and issued with an instant loss of licence for six months.

His Holden Commodore was impounded for 28 days and defected after officers also observed the rear tyres were worn down to the steel belts and one wheel was missing a wheel nut.

SAPOL reminds motorists that there is no excuse for excessive speeding. Speed remains a major contributing factor in fatal and serious injury crashes on South Australian roads, and police will continue to target dangerous driving behaviour wherever it occurs.
