21 Jun 2026 9:14am

A drug driver had his car impounded after being stopped at Largs North yesterday.

About 4.30pm on Saturday 20 June, members of the Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Unit stopped a Holden utility on Elder Road after noticing the vehicle had a parachute fitted on the back.

The vehicle appeared to be heavily modified for motorsport activities.

The driver was submitted to a roadside drug test and allegedly returned a positive result to cocaine.

Checks revealed the Holden was defected, unregistered and uninsured. The vehicle was further examined and found to have had the compliance plates removed and was displaying unassigned number plates.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Mawson Lakes, was reported for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, driving contrary to defect, driving without compliance plates and with unassigned number plates, and breaching vehicle standards. His car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be further charged with drug driving pending results of a forensic analysis and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
