Two drivers have been detected speeding on the same road within 24 hours
Just after 1.20am on Friday 2 October, patrols were conducting speed detection duties on Main North Road at Prospect when they detected a red Mazda sedan travelling at 119 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
The sedan was stopped a short distance away and further checks revealed the vehicle was not registered.
The 24-year-old Salisbury man was reported for driving at an extreme speed, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h, and driving an unregistered vehicle and issued with an immediate 12-month loss of licence.
Later that night, at about 11.40pm, patrols were conducting speed detection duties on Main North Road at Pooraka when they detected a white Audi sedan travelling at 126 km/h in a 70 km/h zone.
Patrols stopped the vehicle a short distance away and reported the driver for excessive speed. The vehicle was also defected after patrols identified it had no front or rear lights and a broken rear windscreen.
The 28-year-old Smithfield man was reported for excessive speed, issued with an immediate six-month loss of licence, and had his vehicle defected.
Both men will be summonsed to appear in the Magistrates Court at a later date.
