19 Apr 2024 6:40am

A drink driver crashed his car at Ottoway overnight and fled the scene.

About 10.50pm Thursday 18 April police were called to Grand Junction Road after a Nissan hatchback that had been travelling north on Glenroy Street lost control as it attempted to turn west on Grand Junction Road and crashed into bushes behind a bus stop.

When police arrived at the scene there was no one with the car, however a witness was able to provide a good description of the driver. Patrols conducted a search of the area locating a man matching the description on Rose Street.

In the man’s possession police located keys to the crashed car. Police breath tested the 38-year-old Ottoway man who allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.114.

He was reported for driving without due care and drink driving and lost his licence on the spot for six months. The Nissan was towed from the scene.
