Drink driver asleep at the wheel

17 Apr 2024 6:34am

A high range drink driver was caught at Sheidow Park last night.

Just before 11pm Tuesday 16 April police were called to the intersection of Elgata Road and Elura Avenue after a member of the public reported that a man in a white Ford Ranger towing a trailer was stationary at the intersection and asleep at the wheel.

Police attended and managed to wake up the driver and take the keys out of the ignition, before conducting a breath test with the 42-year-old Woodcroft man. He allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.204 – over four times the limit.

He was reported for drink driving and lost his licence on the spot for 12 months. He will be summonsed to Court at a later date.
