Drink driver arrested after failing to stop for police

Just after midnight on Tuesday 29 September, police attempted to stop a Mazda hatchback on The Grove Way at Golden Grove after checks revealed the registered owner was disqualified from driving. The driver accelerated away and police discontinued attempts to stop the vehicle.

A short time later, patrols located the car on Saints Road, Salisbury Plain, where it was safely contained and the driver arrested.

The 27-year-old Salisbury North man returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.172. He was charged with failing to stop, driving while disqualified, refusing to provide details and drink driving.

His car was impounded for 28 days and he was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence.

He will appear in court at a later date.
