Woman injured in Salisbury Downs assault

A man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman at Salisbury Downs overnight.

Police and paramedics were called to Whelstone Court about 12.30am on Wednesday 17 June, following reports a woman had been assaulted by a man known to her.

On arrival, police located the suspect, who had sustained a serious laceration to his arm after allegedly smashing a window during the incident. Patrols provided first aid before paramedics arrived and transported him to hospital for treatment.

The victim, a 59-year-old woman from Salisbury Downs, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

After arriving at hospital, the 46-year-old man from Mimili was arrested and is expected to be charged with aggravated assault, property damage and breaching an intervention order. He will appear in court when medically fit.
