Shelter bags support Murray Bridge community

22 Jun 2026 1:18pm

Murray Bridge Police have again partnered with the Rotary Club of Mobilong to provide practical support to vulnerable members of the community during the colder months.

Now in its third year, the initiative will see shelter bags distributed free of charge to people in need, helping those experiencing homelessness stay safe and warm this winter.

The shelter bags are a lightweight, waterproof and ventilated sleeping system, similar to a compact swag. When rolled, they convert into a backpack for easy portability and include a thin mattress and padded hood, providing immediate relief and a degree of comfort and dignity for people sleeping rough.

Shelter bags are available at no cost, with no questions asked, from Murray Bridge Police Station and AC Care on Bridge Street, Murray Bridge. All enquiries and requests will be handled in confidence.

Police encourage anyone in need of assistance, or who knows someone who may benefit from this initiative, to access the service.
