Murray Mallee traffic wrap-up

Police have detected six drivers committing offences in the Murray Mallee region over the weekend.

At 2am on Saturday 13 June, Police stopped and searched a car on the Princes Highway, Murray Bridge East. Officers allegedly located equipment used for consuming drugs and also an amount of cannabis. The driver, a 32-year-old woman from Murray Bridge, was reported for the possess equipment and issued with an expiation notice for the cannabis. She will be summoned to appear in Murray Bridge court at a later date.

About 12.15am on Sunday 14 June, a 25-year-old man from Murray Bridge was stopped on Swanport Road and breath tested. He allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.051. He was issued with an expiation notice for drink driving.

About 5.45pm on Sunday, police reported an 89-year-old man from Loxton with traffic offences. He was stopped driving on Edward Street, Loxton after checks on his licence revealed he was suspended from driving. His vehicle was also found to be unregistered and uninsured. The Loxton man was reported for those offences and will be summonsed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 10.15am on Monday 15 June, Loxton police arrested a 36-year-old man for driving while disqualified. The Loxton man was seen driving at Berri and subsequently arrested. He was refused bail and will appear in Berri Magistrates Court today.

Loxton Police reported two drivers in separate drug driving incidents. A 36-year-old man from Loxton was allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine after being stopped on Martha Street on Saturday. A 41-year-old Berri man from Berri allegedly returned a positive result to cannabis after he was stopped on Bookpurnong Road on Sunday tested positive for illicit drugs. Both men were issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and may be summonsed to appear in court at a later date pending forensic analysis results.
