Murray Mallee drink and drug drivers

About 2.15pm on Saturday 12 September, police detected a Ford utility travelling at 133km/h in a 100km/h speed zone on Murbko Road, Murbko. The driver, a 16-year-old girl from Salisbury, was issued with an expiation notice for several traffic related offences. She also allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine after undergoing a drug test. She may face further police action pending the results of further sample analysis.

Police stopped the driver of a Nissan utility on the Sturt Highway, Blanchetown about 2.45pm on Sunday 13 September. The driver was submitted to a drug test and allegedly returned a positive result for cocaine. A 23-year-old woman from Aberfoyle Park was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and will receive an expiation notice for drug driving pending further sample analysis.

About 7.15pm on Sunday 13 September, police stopped a Nissan sedan on Swanport Road, Murray Bridge. The driver was found to have a disqualified licence. Further checks also revealed the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. A 22-year-old man from Murray Bridge was reported for the offences and the vehicle was impounded for a period of 28 days.

Police stopped an MG station wagon on Jervois Road at Murray Bridge about 1.30am on Monday 14 September for the purpose of a mobile driver test. The driver, a 38-year-old man from Murray Bridge, allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.161. The man was reported for drink driving, issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and the vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

All reported drivers will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
