Murray Mallee traffic report

Murray Mallee Police detected six drivers committing traffic offences over the weekend.

About 6am on Friday 12 April, Murray Bridge stopped a man driving a Ford sedan on Swanport Road and submitted him to a breath test. He allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.143. A 28-year-old man from Mypolonga was reported for drink driving, issued with a six-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Just after 4pm on Friday, a highway patrol officer detected a Mitsubishi wagon travelling at 98km/h in an 80km/h speed zone on Tungkillo Road, Tungkillo. The driver was stopped and submitted to a roadside screening test where he allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine. A 50-year-old man from Aldgate was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and may face drug driving charges pending results of a forensic analysis.

Over the weekend, Riverland Police reported three drivers for having illicit drugs in their systems –

  • A 32-year-old woman while driving on Sturt Highway, Barmera
  • A 19-year-old man while driving on Curren Road, Berri
  • A 57-year-old man driving on Goyder Highway, Overland Corner

All three received a 3-month instant loss of licence and may face drug driving charges pending results of a forensic analysis.

Just after 10.30pm on Saturday 13 April, Murray Bridge Police arrested a 36-year-old man from Murray Bridge for driving while disqualified. It will be alleged that he was driving a Toyota sedan on Rathjen Road, Mypolonga when he was stopped for a random breath test. Checks on his licence revealed he was disqualified from driving. He was arrested and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days. He was bailed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.
