MMLSA weekend traffic

Murray Mallee Police detected six drivers committing traffic offences over the weekend.

About 1.50pm Friday 19 April, highway Patrol stopped a man driving a Holden 4WD on the Stott Highway Sedan, the driver, a 62-year-old local man was drug tested and allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine. He lost his licence on the spot for three months and his car was impounded. His sample will be sent to Forensic Science SA for further analysis.

About 10.20pm on Friday 19 April, Loxton Police stopped a Ford sedan on Tomlinson Court Loxton and spoke to the driver. Checks revealed the driver, a 39-year-old Loxton woman had a disqualified licence. She was reported for driving disqualified and her car was impounded. She will appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 1.40am Saturday 20 April, l Renmark Police stopped a Mazda sedan on New landing Way Renmark.  Checks revealed the driver, a 22-year-old Renmark man had a suspended drivers licence. Police had cause to search the vehicle and located an amount of cannabis, methamphetamine and a folding knife. He was reported for driving suspended, possess controlled drug, trafficking controlled drug, carry offensive weapon and breaching a driver direction notice. He will appear in the Renmark Magistrates Court at a later date.  Photos of seized items below.

About 11.30pm on Saturday 20 April, Berri Police stopped a Volkswagen on Sturt Highway Berri. The driver a 23-year-old New South Wales woman was breath tested and allegedly returning a result of 0.112. She was reported for drink driving and loss of licence on the spot for six months. She will appear in court at a later date.

About 9.30am on Sunday 21 April, Berri Police stopped a Honda Station Wagon on Murtho Street Renmark. Checks revealed that the driver, a 43-year-old Renmark male was driving suspended. He was reported for driving with a suspended licence and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About 3.20pm Sunday 21 April, police stopped an Audi sedan on Gordon Road Bookpurnong after reports of hoon driving. The driver, a 31-year-old Loxton man was drug tested and allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine. He was issued a three-month instant loss of licence and his sample will be sent to Forensic Science SA for further analysis.
