Limestone Coast traffic report

Limestone Coast Police were busy on the weekend with six drivers to face court over various traffic offences.

About 12.25pm on Friday 10 July, police received a report of theft and property damage at a residence in Fidler Street at Mount Gambier. Soon after, police attempted to stop a male suspect driving a grey BMW on Wehl Street North. The driver failed to stop for police but was later seen running from the vehicle through paddocks on Wireless Road East. Police located the male soon after in the yard of a property on Wireless Rd East.

The 27-year-old local man was arrested and charged with property damage, theft, driving while disqualified, hinder police, fail to stop, dangerous driving to escape police pursuit and his car was impounded for 28 days. He also had an active warrant. He was refused bail and will appear in court later today (Monday 13 July).

About 1.25pm on Friday 10 July, a 26-year-old Millicent woman was stopped by police while driving on Mount Gambier Road in Millicent. Checks revealed her licence was disqualified. She was arrested and charged with driving while disqualified and was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

About 8.05pm on Friday 10 July, a 20-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police while riding a motorcycle on Bay Road in Mount Gambier. Checks revealed his licence was disqualified and his motorcycle was not roadworthy. The rider was reported for driving disqualified and his motorcycle was defected. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About 6.30pm on Saturday 11 July, a 33-year-old Mount Gambier woman was stopped by police while driving on Jubilee Highway West in Mount Gambier. The woman recorded a positive drug test to methamphetamine and will be reported for drug driving once her sample has been forensically analysed. She will also be issued with a three-month immediate loss of licence and be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About 5.15pm on Sunday 12 July, a 39-year-old Lucindale man was stopped by police while driving on Jones Street in Naracoorte. Checks revealed the man’s licence was disqualified. The driver also provided a positive drug test to methamphetamine meth and he was reported for drug driving and driving while disqualified. He will receive a three-month immediate loss of licence notice and be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About 9.30am on Monday 13 July, a 30-year-old Tarpeena man was arrested by police after he was seen riding an unregistered and uninsured dirt bike on Kennedy Avenue in Mount Gambier.

The man was also unlicenced and found to be in possession of a knife and drug paraphernalia. The rider provided a positive drug test and will be issued with a three-month immediate loss of licence notice. He was charged with driving unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed, hindering police and carry offensive weapon. He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
