Three arrested after stolen vehicles recovered north of Adelaide

Just before 3am on Tuesday 22 September, police spotted a stolen BMW sedan on Grand Junction Road, Wingfield. Patrols covertly followed the vehicle and successfully deployed road spikes on Grand Junction Road, Gepps Cross.

The BMW continued for a short distance on shredded tyres before being abandoned on Walkleys Road, Walkley Heights. Police established cordons in the area and commenced a search, locating two suspects on Dene Street.

A 15-year-old Gilles Plains boy was arrested by Police Dog Echo after trying to flee on foot, while a 17-year-old Ridleyton boy was located hiding in a nearby yard.

Police had earlier observed a stolen Subaru travelling in convoy with the BMW. The Subaru was sighted on Wright Road about 3am and was pursued for a short distance before sustaining a blown tyre on Muriel Drive, Pooraka.

The driver, a 15-year-old Wynn Vale boy, was arrested after allegedly attempting to flee over a fence.

The 15-year-old Wynn Vale boy was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 11 November.

The Gilles Plains and Ridleyton boys were both charged with serious criminal trespass and illegal use of a motor vehicle. The 17-year-old was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 11 November, while bail for the 15-year-old Gilles Plains boy will be determined when he is medically fit.

Police will allege the BMW was stolen during a break-in in the early hours of Tuesday morning, while the Subaru was stolen during a separate break-in on Monday. Investigations into the break-ins are ongoing.

Both vehicles were towed for forensic examination.
