Nominations open for South Australia Police Officer of the Year 2026

16 Jun 2026 11:28am

South Australians are being encouraged to recognise police officers who go above and beyond for their communities, with nominations now open for the 2026 South Australia Police Officer of the Year award.

Presented annually by the Rotary Club of Unley since 1978, the award recognises police officers who demonstrate exceptional professionalism, courage, compassion and commitment to community service.

Community members are invited to nominate officers who have made a meaningful difference through their policing work, acts of kindness, support for vulnerable people, or volunteer contributions outside of duty.

Commissioner of Police Grant Stevens said the award demonstrates the important connection between police and the communities they serve.

“Every day, police officers across the state quietly make a difference in the lives of others, often in challenging and confronting circumstances,” Commissioner Stevens said.

“This award gives the community an opportunity to recognise officers who show outstanding professionalism, compassion and dedication to keeping South Australians safe.”

“Many of our officers build strong relationships within their local communities. We encourage people to take the time to nominate an officer who has had a positive impact on their life or community.”

Nominations open Friday 29 May 2026 and close Friday 10 July 2026.

Nomination forms can be downloaded via the Rotary Club of Unley website and submitted by email to pooty@unleyrotary.org.au or by post to the Rotary Club of Unley.

The recipient will be announced at a public ceremony during the Royal Adelaide Show on Friday 11 September 2026.
