Update: Fatal crash near NT border

24 Apr 2024 7:23am

A man has died following a crash in the States Far North yesterday.

About 1.45pm on Tuesday 23 April, South Australia police, Northern Territory police, SAAS and CFS were called to the Stuart Highway at De Rose Hill, about 30km south of the NT border after reports that a car had struck a pedestrian.

Sadly, the pedestrian, a 26-year-old Port Augusta man died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 71-year-old Victorian man, was not injured.

The Stuart Highway was closed in both directions for most of the night while Major Crash Investigators flew to the scene from Adelaide. However, the highway has now reopened. Police would like to thank motorists, and community members at Kulgera and Marla for their patience and assistance.
