Driver arrested Eyre Peninsula

A man has been arrested for driving whilst being disqualified in the Eyre Peninsula this week.

Just before 10am on Wednesday 21 May, police spotted a Daewoo sedan being driven on Railway Terrace at Kimba by a person know to be disqualified from driving.  

Police attempted to stop the car as it travelled through the streets of Kimba, reaching speeds of up to 79km/h in 50km/h zones.   The car failed to stop and accelerated away at speed.

About 10am on Thursday 22 May, enquiries led police to a business premises where the driver was located hiding in a toilet.  A 24-year-old man from Kimba was arrested without incident.  He was charged with driving whilst being disqualified and other driving offences.  He was refused bail and he appeared in Whyalla Magistrates Court yesterday.

The vehicle was impounded for 28 days, it was also defected for numerous safety faults and a forfeiture will be submitted to the court.
