Driver charged over fatal crash at Gawler

Just before 2pm on Monday 27 July, police and emergency services were called to Main North Road after a Holden station wagon collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Sadly, the motorcycle rider, a 26-year-old man from Willaston, died at the scene.

Major Crash investigators attended and examined the circumstances surrounding the crash. The road remained closed for several hours but was reopened just after 7.30pm last night.

The Holden driver, a 68-year-old man from Gawler, sustained minor injuries.

As a result of investigations, Major Crash officers arrested the 68-year-old man today and charged him with causing death by dangerous driving. He was issued with an instant loss of licence until further notice and was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 14 September.

The man’s death was the 66^th life lost on South Australian roads this year.
