28 Jul 2026 4:41pm

A driver has been arrested after allegedly crashing a stolen Nissan.

Just after 12pm on Tuesday 28 July, police spotted a stolen Nissan station wagon on Blight Street.

It will be alleged the driver of the Nissan mounted the footpath in an attempt to evade police and collided with a fence and a tree.

The driver attempted to run from police but was swiftly detained by PD Griffin.

Fortunately, there were no reports of any injuries.

The driver, a 36-year-old man from Ovingham, was arrested and charged with driving a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and driving without due care and hinder police.

His bail is yet to be determined.

Checks on the vehicle revealed it had been stolen from a St Morris property earlier this month.
