Barossa Valley drink driver

A teenager drink driver will appear in court after the car he was driving left the road and collided with a tree early this morning.

About 2.10am on Saturday 6 April, police and emergency services were called to a single vehicle accident at Lyndoch.

Police will allege the driver lost control of the green Holden Commodore sedan at the intersection of Barossa Valley Way and Jollytown Road resulting in the vehicle colliding with a tree and becoming impaled.

The passenger, an 18-year-old man from Willaston was taken to the local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.  The P plate driver, a 19-year-old man from Lyndoch, submitted to a breath test where he provided a positive result of 0.185 – more than three times over the legal limit.

The driver was reported for driving under the influence, drink driving and aggravated driving without due care.  He was issued a 12 month instant loss of licence and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
