NHW 2026 grant recipients

2026 grants result

Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) and the Volunteer Association of South Australia Inc. (VASA) are pleased to announce the successful recipients of the 2026 NHW grants program, supporting innovative community-led projects that strengthen crime prevention, improve safety and build more connected communities across South Australia.

Made possible through funding from VASA, this year’s grants will help local NHW Areas deliver practical initiatives tailored to the unique needs of their communities.

The successful projects showcase the diverse ways volunteers are working alongside South Australia Police (SAPOL), local councils, schools and community organisations to make a positive difference.

Goolwa – Helmet Heroes

Goolwa NHW has been awarded funding to improve road safety for local children by providing bicycle helmets to young people experiencing financial difficulties. Working with local schools and SAPOL, the project aims to increase helmet use, improve road safety awareness and ensure more children have access to appropriate safety equipment.

Murray Bridge – The SafeLock Project

Murray Bridge NHW will launch the SafeLock Project, providing more than 250 combination padlocks to vulnerable and at-risk community members. The initiative aims to reduce opportunistic crime by making it easier for residents to secure sheds, gates and other valuable property, while reinforcing practical crime prevention messages.

West Beach – A Community Barbecue

West Beach NHW will host a community safety barbecue to bring residents together, promote crime prevention awareness and encourage greater community engagement. The event will provide an opportunity for local residents to connect with NHW volunteers and SAPOL while strengthening relationships that contribute to safer, more connected communities.

Kingston SE – Visibility Safety

Kingston SE NHW will deliver a community safety initiative focused on the growing use of e-bikes, scooters and other recreational mobility devices. The project combines education with the provision of high-visibility vests and helmets, encouraging safer riding behaviours while helping protect both riders and other users of shared paths.

These projects reflect the strength of NHW volunteers across South Australia and their ongoing commitment to create safer, more connected communities through local action. By supporting practical, community-driven initiatives, the 2026 NHW grants program continues to empower local groups to identify solutions that address the specific needs of their neighbourhoods.

NHW SA and VASA congratulates all successful grant recipients and looks forward to seeing these projects delivered over the coming year.
