Grants for crime prevention and community connection projects are available to Neighbourhood Watch SA (NHW) Areas for 2026!
The Neighbourhood Watch Volunteers Association of South Australia Inc. (NHW VASA) is funding the grants program, which is offering up to $2,000 for projects that can provide positive tangible outcomes for towns and suburbs around South Australia.
The decision to run a 2026 grants program comes after the success of the 2025 NHW 40th anniversary grants program, which was used to fund a variety of crime prevention and community connection initiatives.
The 2026 NHW grant information guide and submission form are now available in the Tools and resources section of the NHW website. This year we have provided an example of how to complete a grant submission as well as tips for what to include. To have the best chance of success, please read the information guide, the example submission, and the tips document prior to completing the submission for your NHW Area.
Applications close 24 April 2026. For more information, email SAPOL.NeighbourhoodWatch@police.sa.gov.au.
Several 2025 NHW 40th anniversary grant recipients have provided positive feedback and useful insights on their projects.
Sefton Park NHW purchased personal alarms to give to vulnerable people but had to change its dissemination strategy after the Prospect Spring Fair was cancelled due to a severe weather warning. Instead, the alarms were successfully given out at three separate occasions including a Gepps Cross Enfield NHW event and two Bunnings events. Sefton Park NHW discovered that personal alarms benefited a variety of people including single women, elderly people, mothers with young children, workers who parked in multi-story parking buildings and people at risk of falls.
Goolwa NHW provided high visibility vests to young school children, people with mobility scooters and individuals with walking frames to improve their safety on roads and footpaths. Group members have enjoyed the satisfaction of seeing recipients out and about wearing their vests.
Valley View NHW held a free community barbecue to encourage neighbours to meet, socialise and build stronger community connections. The turnout was larger than expected with more than 200 people attending. Multiple trips were made to the nearest supermarket to replenish essential items such as milk and bread!
