Drug driver caught in North Adelaide

A disqualified driver has been caught drug driving in North Adelaide.

Just before 3am on Saturday 23 May, police stopped an Audi sedan on Barton Terrace West and submitted the driver to a roadside drug test, which indicated a positive result for cocaine.

Further checks revealed the driver was disqualified from driving.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located cocaine, cannabis and smoking equipment.

An 18-year-old woman from Sheidow Park, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was issued a $590 fine for possessing cannabis and drug equipment.

The driver, a 20-year-old man from North Adelaide, was reported for driving while disqualified. He was also issued a $355 fine for possessing cannabis and a drug diversion notice for possessing cocaine. He may face further charges pending analysis of the drug sample.

His vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
