18 Sep 2026 21:43pm

A drink driver has lost his licence after driving through a roundabout at Smithfield.

At about 7pm on Friday 18 September, patrols responded to reports of a blue Hyundai colliding with a roundabout at the intersection of Anderson Walk and Charlotte Street, Smithfield.

Patrols quickly attended the scene and located the driver, who was submitted to a breath test which returned a positive result of 0.253, more than five times the legal limit.

It will be alleged the 47-year-old man from Craigmore was driving without an interlock device.

He was reported for drink driving, driving without due care, driving without an interlock device and issued with an immediate 12-month loss of licence.

He will be summonsed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.
