Murray Mallee Police detected the following traffic offences over the weekend.
Just after 4pm on Friday 19 June, police stopped a sedan on Bookpurnong Road, Loxton. After an initial driver test, the driver, a 48-year-old Wanbi man, allegedly refused to comply with further drug driver testing procedures. He was arrested and charged with disobey reasonable direction and bailed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on 6 July. His vehicle was defected.
About 2am on Saturday 20 June, police stopped a Holden sedan on Dukes Highway, Tailem Bend. The driver, a 57-year-old Gawler East man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.337 – nearly seven times the legal limit for a fully licensed driving. Police checks revealed the driver was currently disqualified. He was reported for drink driving and driving while disqualified and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date. He was also given an additional 12-month loss of licence. The vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
About 2.40am on Sunday 21 June, police stopped a Volkswagen sedan on Old Princes Highway, Murray Bridge East. It will be alleged the driver provided false details to police and subsequent checks revealed he was disqualified from driving. The 43-year-old Meningie man was arrested and charged with state false personal details and driving while disqualified. He was bailed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on 27 July. The vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
About 10.15am on Sunday 21 June, Loxton Police responded to reports of a vehicle doing burnouts on Bookpurnong Road, Loxton. Following investigations, a 17-year-old boy from McLaren Vale was reported for misuse of a motor vehicle. He was also issued with a defect and expiation notice and will be summonsed to appear in the Berri Youth Court at a later date.
Just after 2am on Monday 22 June, police stopped a Suzuki hatchback on Long Island Road, Murray Bridge. The driver, a 27-year-old Clearview man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.126. Police checks revealed he was currently disqualified from driving. He was arrested and charged with drink driving and issued with a further six-month instant loss of licence. He was bailed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on 14 July.
