Woman arrested at Clare

A woman has been arrested for drug offences at Clare on Sunday.

About 6.30pm on Sunday 28 April, Police attempted to stop a woman riding a bike on Main North Road for minor traffic offences. The woman got off the bike and ran from police.

She was apprehended a short distance away where police saw her trying to secrete an item under a fence. The item was recovered and was suspected to be methamphetamine.

Police conducted a further search of the woman’s home and seized further drugs.

A 33-year-old woman from Clare was charged with a number of traffic and drug offences including possessing a traffickable amount of a controlled substance in a prescribed area, possessing a controlled substance, and possessing cannabis. She was bailed to appear in the Clare Court on 20 May.
