Man arrested with axes at Arndale shopping centre

13 Aug 2026 9:35am

A man was arrested yesterday after allegedly being found in possession of axes at a Kilkenny shopping centre.

Western District public transport patrols attended Arndale Shopping Centre on Wednesday 12 August to conduct an operation under declared shopping precinct powers.

Just after 2pm, officers stopped a 42-year-old man of no fixed place of abode and conducted a search. It will be alleged that police located two axes and a glass ice pipe in his backpack.

Police further allege the man provided a false name. When his true identity was established, checks revealed he was wanted on a warrant.

The man was charged with carrying an offensive weapon and breach of bail. He was refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today (Thursday 13 August).

He was also issued with a drug diversion for possessing drug paraphernalia.
