Man arrested in possession of child exploitation material

02 May 2025 1:21pm

A man was arrested yesterday, Thursday, 1 May after he was found to be in possession of child exploitation material.

Following an investigation by detectives from the SAPOL public protection branch, a 51-year-old man from the western suburbs was arrested for being in possession of child exploitation material. He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday 12 June.

Detective Chief Inspector Naomi Oberscheidt, Officer in Charge Offender Management Section states, “The impact of child abuse imagery extends far beyond the immediate victim. Each time these images are viewed, the child is re-victimised, perpetuating their trauma and suffering. Possessing and distributing child abuse material fuels a global industry that exploits and harms children.”

Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to contact Crime Stoppers. You can anonymously provide information to Crime Stoppers online at https://crimestopperssa.com.au or free call 1800 333 000 or www.accce.gov.au/report.

If you know abuse is happening right now or a child is at risk call police immediately on 000.
