Man arrested after domestic violence incident in western suburbs

Police were called to a home about 1.20pm on Sunday 6 September following reports that a man was attempting to set a vehicle alight.

It will be alleged the man assaulted his female partner before attempting to set fire to curtains inside the home. He then allegedly left the house and attempted to set the woman's vehicle on fire.

Patrols attended and arrested the man in the front yard of the property.

The woman sustained minor injuries during the incident. A small amount of damage was caused to the vehicle and the home.

The 29-year-old Para Hills man was charged with two counts of attempted arson and aggravated assault. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday 7 September.

In addition to the criminal charges, the man was issued with a Police Interim Intervention Order (PIIO), which provides further protection for the victim. These orders give police greater powers to take immediate action to protect individuals and their families from physical violence, as well as threatening and controlling behaviour.
