Alleged drink driver crashes into fence at Athol Park

12 May 2025 6:37am

A man was arrested after crashing his car into a fence at Athol Park last night.

Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Park Avenue and Glenroy Street, Athol Park about 7pm on Sunday 11 May by reports of a single car crash.

A red Holden Commodore sedan failed to negotiate the bend and crashed into a give way sign, a mesh fence and a truck parked directly behind the fence in a business yard.

The driver sustained a laceration to his face in the crash but refused medical treatment.

It will be alleged he was belligerent and appeared to be intoxicated.  When he attempted to get back in his car, he was arrested.

The 44-year-old West Croydon man was charged with drink driving, driving without due care, driving unregistered, hinder police and failing to comply with breath analysis.

He will be issued with a 12-month loss of licence and was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 10 June.
